Lessons of/from life

well, after a long time now writing a blog again. This time it is about something i've never thought about but now it seems to be a time to think on it, for it.
what actually is required to be sucessful in life?
to be true or to be clever or smart

before today i was with the first option but in todays world it doesn't matter at all. The only thing matters is "How can you keep others (especially superiors) happy."
well, thats my experience about life till now but it took me a long time to actually understamd the survival of fittest.

i'm still in doubt whether i can do it ...... following the 2nd option. and waise bhi the lessons of life are not easy to follow.
